Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

I love searching the web for recipes, normally allrecipes.com is my go to site, but they failed me today. Fortunately, I was able to find a banana chocolate chip bar recipe while searching swagbucks.

I found the recipe on a dinner co-op site. Let me tell you, the recipe did not disappoint!

They came out perfectly golden and were more cake-like than a cookie bar. Yum. No frosting needed on these bad boys.

Want to make your own? Here's the recipe I used...

Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

2 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Stir flour, baking powder, and salt together. In a large bowl cream together shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Blend in banana, then flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread evenly in a greased and floured 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 pan. Bake at 350oF 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool 15 minutes and cut into bars.

I realized I didn't have any vanilla while I was making these, and they still came out delish.

Enjoy!
