Another Must Have...

My husband likes to use my towel.

It. Drives. Me. Crazy.

And not in a good way...

He can share my fork..
Or share my drink..
He can kiss me..
Hold my hand...
We've had I've had his kids...
I've even let him use my toothbrush before...

But don't touch my towel!!

I'm hoping I've found the solution through {Aly and Ash}.

This personalized towel hanger is just too cute!

I'm thinking a couple of monogrammed versions are a must for our bathroom.

Does your hubby carry a pet peeve of yours?

{ I want I need! }

We still have not closed on our house.
Our lender has been lame. I've wanted to cry. I have cried.

We were out of town this week for a family reunion at Reid Ranch and had to make a 4 hour drive round trip to deal with some things for the loan that should have been taken care of months ago, or at least last week when I asked if they needed anything else before we left for our trip. In keeping myself sane, I have been searching for inspirational projects or items I want I need for the house.

Here are a few!

I {adore} Knock-Off Wood.

I want to build everything on Ana's site. We plan to build the twin farmhouse bed for my daughters' room.
The blue in the plans is tempting, but we will probably just paint it white.
She does have plans for a bench I want to build, paint blue and put at the foot of her bed.
Love. It.

I've already been contemplating colors for the home.
It's been a toss up between yellow or red for the kitchen.
I think this window treatment idea for DIY Ideas has solved the dilemma!

{ I want I need! } this Typewriter Keys art from Pottery Barn.
They are sold out.
Who am I kidding? I wouldn't pay the $300 for it if they had it in stock anyway.
I've seen a few bloggers that have made their own.
I just might try!

This old chair turned planter is SO cute.
Jasey from Crazy Daisy is genius.
We have some pretty worn chairs from Ikea. I think I might have to sacrifice one or two.
We have very little space on the front steps/porch, but i think one might fit perfectly.
And again, love the blue!
What are some websites that have inspired you?

Super Mom!

Ok, I might not be a super hero, but I feel pretty dang proud of this weekend's laundry accomplishment!

My 2 year old recently discovered the amazing capability her pockets have of holding junk. As I type this, I hear her saying "Oooo...pocket!" as she shoves yet another trinket in her short pocket which I will have to later remove on laundry day.

On to my weekend laundry endeavors (you can probably guess where this is going). My wonderful husband decided to do laundry this weekend. So sweet. He washed and dried two loads. I took the job of folding the clean clothes...at least I intended to fold them. To my horror there was blue, green and red crayon on EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. Dried on crayon meets the top 10 of every mom's worst nightmares list. My clothes and the kids clothes were ruined. Are you kidding me? Now that I think about it, not a single piece of the hubby's clothes were in the wash. I tried not to be peeved with my helpful hubby, but he had only creating more work and a possible clothes shopping trip that I was surprisingly not happy about.

I didn't have a ton of hope I would be able to salvage the clothes, but I ran to the store to pick up some Oxiclean Stain Remover, refill size...I had a lot of stains to remove!

And some stain catcher sheets...

I filled the tub (I had two large loads and wanted to soak both at once) with HOT HOT HOT water. I poured in a good amount of Oxiclean, laundry soap, color safe bleach and a color catcher sheet. There were a lot of new-ish items I didn't want bleeding on to the others during the soak. I let them sit all night and when I woke up, I found the tub had drained, so I refilled it with more HOT water, and started the process over again and let them soak all day. I still didn't have much hope when I transferred the loads into the wash, all the crayon still appeared to be on the clothes. This is where the super mom part comes in (ok, maybe just super cleaner..thank you oxiclean!), I went from 2 full loads of stained laundry to 5 single pieces of clothing with just a little crayon left on them! I will be re-treating those and scrubbing them with a toothbrush and will hopefully remove the rest! PS, a tooth brush is a must have for stain removal...I use it often with the mess my kiddo manages to make on her clothes.

If you ever run into a crayon tragedy, all hope is not lost! Oh, and before you dry anything else in the dryer, start it (empty), let it heat up and wipe it out immediately after with a dry cloth. You don't want any crayon left on the drum transferring to more clothes!

Happy Washing!

On Vacation!

Ha! I wish! Chicy Creations has been put on Vacation mode, but I'm not away on some white sand beach basking in the sunlight. I wish! We are buying a house, almost as exciting, right? The wonderful FHA appraiser said we have to paint before we can get the loan. Paint, of all things! We have spent the last 2 days scraping, pressure washing, and sanding the house to prep it for primer. In. The. Rain. It's been Fantastic! Truthfully it hasn't been terrible. We are just excited to have the opportunity to buy a house and want to close by the end of the month.

No close ups yet, it looks much worse than that right now since the prep work!

With all this extra work and stress on our hands, I've temporarily closed shop. We've got a few of things to look forward to this next month. First, we hope to be closed and moved in. Second, I'll re-open shop at that time, and what we are super (did I really just say super?!) excited for is a new blog documenting the remodeling of the home and giving tips and tutorials. So look out for that! I also have a few new recipes (fish tacos being one of our current favs!) and tutorials to add here, but those will have to wait. Back to kicking the hubsters butt at poker!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
